Everyone in the Unionville neighborhood knows the name Frank Johnson. The community leader lovingly nicknamed "the Mayor of Unionville" passed away in November at age 89. Now, his legacy lives on through the work he put in while he was here.
The Frank Johnson Recreation Center (2227 Mercer University Drive) just went through $939,000 in voter-approved SPLOST-funded upgrades. At the ribbon cutting to unveil the new additions, Mr. Johnson's widow, Dorothy, and daughter, Cheryl, told stories and shared memories of the beloved patriarch. You can watch their remarks on MaconBibbTV's website.
